Biography

Gary Simmons (b. 1964) lives and works in New York, NY. Simmons received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1988 from the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY and received a Masters of Fine Art degree in 1990 from The California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA.

 

Simmons is the recipient of the 2013 Joyce Alexander Wein Prize, The Studio Museum Harlem; 1991 Penny McCall Foundation Grant; and the 1990 National Endowment for the Arts, Interarts Grant.
